Poem Book 2: The Old Hound

Poem: The old hound

The old hound, gray in coat

Long in nose & years

Walks the path by the stream

accompanied by his owner

He walks slowly with his owner

Never too far ahead or behind

He doesn’t chase distractions

With no collar & no leash

He is Trusted by the owner

He greets the children & elderly

He has been given the grace to roam

But Since he is well trained

He does not roam far

And even without a call

He follows his owner

May we all one day,

become like the old hound

Who follows and knows his masters voice

Yet does not need the leash of immaturity

Be granted freedom, Yet still do the fathers will

Become the old hound

The faithful servant
