Cullen Wines: The Why Behind the Wines

A Love for Wine. A Love for Health.
Cullen Wines was born from two things that have shaped my life:
a deep love for wine, and an equally deep respect for health.
Over the past decade, the wine industry has entered a storm. Younger drinkers—Gen Z and Millennials—aren’t walking away from wine because they don’t appreciate craftsmanship or culture. They’re stepping back because they’re asking better questions. How does this make me feel? How does this fit into my life? Is this aligned with the way I want to live?
Alcohol consumption is changing. And the industry can either resist that truth—or evolve with it.
Looking Back to Move Forward

While researching the history of wine, I listened to a podcast that explored the first major modern wine boom. Much of that growth was built on a simple idea: wine was seen as healthy—or at least a healthier alternative to other forms of alcohol.
There were studies linking moderate wine consumption to heart health. There was the famous idea of the “French paradox,” pointing to long life despite smoking and drinking, with wine often cited as a contributing factor. Whether those claims were overstated or misunderstood doesn’t matter as much as this truth:
Wine once held a place as an intentional, measured, and integrated part of a healthy life.
Somewhere along the way, that idea got lost.
Wine Needs Health at the Center Again
Wine is still alcohol. That reality can’t be ignored. But it also doesn’t mean wine has to be excessive, heavy, or disconnected from health-conscious living.
Cullen Wines exists to bring wine back into balance.
Not by pretending alcohol isn’t alcohol—but by respecting it enough to design wines that fit a modern, intentional life. That means lower alcohol. It means transparency. It means wines you can enjoy without sacrificing your sleep, your training, your clarity, or your next morning.
Health isn’t a trend. It’s the foundation of a better life, a stronger family, a more connected community, and ultimately a healthier nation.
Why Cool Climate Matters

Cullen Wines starts in cool places—by design.
Growing up in Santa Cruz, I fell in love with foggy mornings, salty air, and rocky coastlines. That environment teaches patience. It teaches restraint. It teaches you that beauty doesn’t need excess.
Cool-climate vineyards naturally produce wines with:
- Lower alcohol
- Higher natural acidity
- Greater freshness and balance
- Less heaviness, more clarity
These places don’t rush. And neither do our wines.
A Modern Wine for a Modern World

Cullen Wines is deeply personal—but it isn’t just about me. It’s about where we are now.
We live in a time where people train, think, build, and care deeply about their health. They read labels. They question ingredients. They want transparency—not marketing smoke.
This brand is built for that world.
Low-alcohol wines.
Cool-climate vineyards.
Clear nutritional information.
One-glass enjoyment.
Wine that fits into life—not one that asks life to bend around it.
Looking Ahead
Cullen Wines isn’t about rejecting wine culture. It’s about evolving it.
It’s about honoring wine’s history while building something better for the future—something aligned with health, intentionality, and respect for the body and mind.
This is wine for people who love wine.
And who love living well.
That’s the story behind Cullen Wines.
